A purpose statement helps an organization to chart a path to greater positive impact, but to truly be embraced by employees leaders need to share more than the words. How could a global company launch its new purpose in the context of newly defined business strategies to help bring purpose to life in a tangible way for even the most removed employees?
The launch of the new purpose came at an event in Miami, where leaders from across the world were invited to share their newly developed strategies against the backdrop of an exhibition of purpose. This interactive exhibit was then taken on a global tour of key offices around the world to give employees the opportunity to experience the collective strength of the organization and a glimpse of its future. This was first step in a cascading strategy to launch and activate purpose across the organization.

A new future unfolding
The event took place over two days in Miami, a city likely to feel the challenges of climate change and a problem that Orbia is uniquely positioned to solve. The purpose had been developed and shared with leaders months before, and these leaders were invited to create business strategies that built upon the foundation of the purpose.
Investors, futurists, and academics were among the guest speakers invited to inspire the attendees in ways they could start to bring the new purpose to life within their individual companies.
Unveiling Purpose
Highlighting purpose through a series of exhibits
Five exhibits were created from stories submitted by employees around purpose. Featuring found objects, technical innovations, research artifacts, and video–the exhibits brought to life the tangible future of the company, as well as the customers and communities the new purpose was created to serve.
The goal was to inspire each company with the work of others, and to help them develop individual business strategies that further the greater purpose.

Unveiling Purpose
Bringing the purpose narrative to life
Cascading purpose down throughout the organization is always a challenge. To launch the new purpose globally, a video was produced capturing the different companies to the manifesto. This was followed by a launch to activate purpose, a program of workshops, activities and tools.
Orbia Purpose
Purpose doesn’t live in isolation. This in-person launch was the first step in cascading the new initiative throughout the rest of organization. Leaders were given the tools to help advocate for the role of purpose at every level of their business including a new employee review format that assessed performance against the nested purpose of the companies.
